The guy must not have been much of a boxer. Stay in close enough to take the sting out of those kicks and the boxer wins everytime.

At 170 that is better than pretty good, that is freakish kind of strength.

No idea. But I have lifted as much as 287 pounds at work, and found myself working water heaters, furniture, buckets of paint, and other things that weight about 100 pounds or more--and I'm only 125.

If feeling 'frisky' (at 44) I can hoist 2 cinder blocks 20 ft up by rope. Does that count for anything?

The guys who have no need to prove what great fighters they are don't get into fights, so they have no need to fight their way out of a paper bag. Anyway, I don't see the connection between bench pressing and fighting. They are two unrelated activities.

Okay, more bragging. I'm anonymous here, so it doesn't stroke my ego at all, but this was my funniest gym experience: I joined a Gold's Gym and was about to use the leg extension machine. I was walking around picking up the free weights you can add to the stack at the back of the machine when a girl walks up to me and gives me a look that says, "Hey, dumbass!". In fact, she says, "You know there's a pin that you move up and down to raise and lower the weight on the machine?" I told her I was already at the bottom of the stack and that I needed more weight. Priceless look on her face when I got on and did numerous reps. BTW, I don't look super buff and by looking at me, you'd never guess I could lift as much or more as the "big guys".

^^ This is true. Fighting is not so much a matter of strength, as a matter of will. Especially when you know the body. For an example, hold a weight...maybe ten pounds of sugar...behind your back by holding your upper arm parallel to the ground, the elbow pointing straight ahead, and your wrist above your shoulder. Hold it in that position for 10 or 15 minutes. Easy enough, right? Now, raise the weight while keeping your upper arm parallel to the ground and your elbow pointed forward.

No matter how strong you may be, the arm does not want to work that way. You can use this knowledge while fighting.

495 squat
505 deadlift (2 reps)
365 bench (4 reps)

Those are my best lifts ever performed when I was around 27-28 years old. 6'2" and at the time I was around 260. I'm a lot more into running now days and lifts are more like the following:

275 Squat (below parellel box squats, 4 sets 5 reps)
I really only bench dumbbells anymore, but work with the 90's for sets of 6-8 right now.
Deadlift, only do stiff leg version with dumbbells, 100 pound db's for sets of 8-10.

Probably won't be getting much stronger anytime soon as I'm chasing a faster 5k race time. I'm down to about 230 this week on bodyweight. Last race was 25 minutes flat, my best ever was 12 years ago at 18minutes 50 seconds, weighed around 210 at the time. Not sure I'll ever be that fast again, but I'd like to see how close I can get.

I'm 115kg, benching 180 kg. I want to be able to bench twice my body weight and squat 3 times my BW. ( I know its possible, because I seen a few rugby players who are about 120 kg bench 240, and squat 300.
