The difference there is that he's not implying anything. I probably would've phrased it differently though. Instead of saying that intense cardio IS enjoyment, I would've said "I love intense cardio and don't feel like it's causing me to miss out on life." Likewise, Onglet32 could've just said, "I'd rather spend my free time doing other things, but if you enjoy long workouts, good for you."
The bottom line is that people have different preferences when it comes to exercise. DrummerBoy likes short intense workouts. I personally prefer longer, less intense workouts. Likewise, some people enjoy working out while for others it's just something they do to lose weight, get fit, etc. They don't want to spend any more time in the gym than they have to. But getting back to the OP, I've learned not to worry too much about how many calories I'm burning during a workout. I figure it's more important to focus on doing a workout that you won't give up on too quickly, one that won't interfere with the rest of your life, and hopefully one that you can find some enjoyment, or at the very least, not come away hating.
