I read that and agree - unless it's something hideous - just deal with it, especially in older age.
Nowadays its quite fashionable to have a wee bump on your nose. even in Hollywood..Ive noticed some celebs with imperfect noses but they still look good.. I hate my own nose and have always wanted it fixed..
Jennifer Grey ( Dirty Dancing ) got a nose job - I guess she felt she looked too ethnic - She is now sorry.
She regretted it because of the impact it had on her career. She couldn’t capitalize on the fame she got from dirty dancing because she no longer looked like herself.
A well-received book by a plastic surgeon says a nose job (in particular) should not be done after 40 since by that time, you are too "used" to your nose and it would be too much of a shock.
That's unfortunate because noses actually get bigger as we age, due to cartilage breakdown. Maybe people over 40 start contemplating a nose job because it actually doesn't "look like them" anymore?
I'm 54 & I can see it when I compare how I look now, to pictures of myself when I was in my 20's. I think if I was ever in the position to afford a nose job, I'd take those pictures to my surgeon & ask if they could "restore" my nose to what it was. I don't want a new nose; I just want my old one back, lol.

Sounds sensible attitude... some nose jobs are amazing .some not so good.. its taking a big chance..
Did you not post that you are saving for a down payment on a house?
Look at your reaearching my posts and worrying about my financial situation.
Not that I have to explain anything for you, but you can do both. We can afford it.
Besides, we just closed on our house.
I had two nose jobs. I am still not happy but oh well.
I think in my 20s my nose started getting bigger but it was not hiddeous. I had the money to get it done, so I did.
The last one was a year ago.
The first one was in 2008, they broke my nose and made is straight. They took off a hump. Unfortunately, he overrotated the tip and it looked up. So you could see my nose hair, which you could not before. They did not make it as slim as I wanted and said if they take off more, I would not be able to breathe right. My answer was "So whole Hollywood snores?". I had not much pain but I had black eyes for a week. The swelling takes a while to go down. They say a year but I would say 2-3 months.
The second one was last year and it is facing down now again and a little thinner but still too wide in my opinion. I am not sure why this is so difficult to get right.
Both were reputable surgeons. After spending all that money this is it. No more. I think it was about $6k each time. Don't remember as it was combined with more procedures.

I have a bump on my nose from falling down the stairs when I was 3. I dont think im unattractive so i’ve just left it alone. Had it hindered my looks, i’d prob had gotten surgery.
That said, i was in Turkey 2 weeks ago on vaca & so many ppl in the airport had had nose surgery. I didnt even know that was a thing there! I found the Turkish ppl to be very honest & good ppl … for those considering it though I have no first hand experience with that sort of thing
My nose works perfectly fine. This would purely be for "vanity" reasons.
I live in Chicago and I actuall work for a large teaching hospital and will soon work for an even bigger one. So I appreciate the recommendation.
Nothing wrong with that! I had a full set of veneers put on my teeth in my fifties and it was done solely for vanity reasons. My teeth were fine (I'm a fanatic about cleaning, brushing, flossing) but they were crooked and I wanted a nice set of teeth. I went with a natural color, not a bright white, and they mimic the size and shape of my natural teeth except that they are in alignment now. No regrets - I love my smile!
