I hate thongs and pantyhose. Both are rather uncomfortable to me, and there are other options. There are seamless panties that are specifically designed to not show up under clothing, just like seamless bras.
However, I've never had the VPL problem and I have decent legs (though very pale, just like the rest of me), so I'll just twiddle my thumbs in the corner.

Thank you for the seamless update. Being a guy, I hadn't thought about seamless panties and bras. As you well know, us guys (for the most part, excluding the exhibitionists and low riders), will wear just about anything that functions as underwear. Re the pale skin situation, you should obviously stay out of direct sunlight as a tanning solution, major skin cancer risk. Have you tried any sort of chemical bronzers?

I've never had to use pantyhose, seamless panties, or thongs with my looks. Then again, I'm usually in denim.
I actually am quite partial to my pale skin. It's something most teenage girls in Florida don't have. I'm still going to go to the beach and sunbathe a little bit to at least have a tinge of colour, maybe get some vitamin D. Looking like the living dead is fun at times, but I don't want to be shunned by the living. Just gotta keep slathering on a nice SPF to prevent burn!

I'm presuming that you're not American, perhaps British? I'm aware that many British women have pale skin like the Irish, when compared to American women and Latinas. It must be the gloomy weather of the British Isles! Please remember that the best SPF protection breaks down in the presence of strong UV light from the sun, please re-apply frequently and stay out of the direct sunlight from mid morning to mid afternoon when UV light is at its most intense, especially on the beach.

amen. Another vote cast from a guy who finds them very hot, in fact.
I'll second that vote! I see many women who could use some help in the appearance department with pantyhose or stockings, as in thigh high stockings for those ladies that abhor pantyhose. There are a number of on-air personalities, especially on the cable news channels, that should be wearing hosiery as their legs have a less that camera friendly appearance. Not being sexist, just making an honest observation.

Born and raised in Florida, about an hour and a half from Daytona. I just take really good care of my skin after killing it as a child - I was on a competitive swimming team and didn't think too highly of sunscreen. I haven't seen much of the sun after getting sun poisoning a couple of years ago. So yes, I'm rather sun-savvy, but thank you anyway! So many women have no idea.
Don't let my foreign terms/spellings confuse you! I simply prefer them to their American counterparts.

I stand corrected. And thank you for being "sun-savvy". Many American women and especially young women, have no idea (or don't care!) as to the damage, both short and long term, that the UV component of sunlight can inflict upon the human body, until it's too late and they're fighting a battle for their lives with the many forms of skin cancer.

I know, and quite frankly, it's rather disgusting. So many people decide to bake themselves to a quite unnatural colour (such as, if you have blue eyes, you should NOT look Latina!), and then later they end up looking like they did meth most of their young life. Heavy wrinkles, moles (some of which are cancerous), dry, leathery skin...

I'll take my SPF 55 with a large brimmed hat!
Beauty is the most fleeting of all physical attributes. Some persons are willing to sacrifice their future and their lives to achieve that fleeting beauty as long as they are able to live for the moment.
