When you look at the demographic of people moving here now, the Baby Boomers, many did not live like this and had things different and were not dealt the same bad hand of cards.

Sure there will always be people with money, looking to move to Florida or anywhere else, the current demographic though will not exist like it does now at least the high % of them and take that way and there goes a lot of revenue, restaurants, medical, Lexus, Cadillac and Buick Dealers will really feel the pinch, Service Industries and etc...

Where to move? Wherever you can best market and utilize your skills, education and ability. Florida is not a one size fit's all type of state, though the small handful of people wearing rose tinted glasses think that it's the best place in the world and do not relate or see what others see or experience in terms of negative experiences.

Like I always say, do your homework before moving anywhere, especially here.
The data reinforces the problem is generic. 76% is a very high number for people to live paycheck to paycheck. You and others specifically isolate it on FL because of personal agendas. That is not fair.

If you want a better job, spend more time looking for one(in or outside FL), educate yourself, gain more experience, than complaining so much on CD.

If you ever land a job in SF, I know you will take back your thoughts when you go apartment hunting lol. My buddy works at Dreamworks and earns low $100k's. His apartment is $3,400 for a 700 sq ft apartment with not even granite counter tops or anything luxurious.
No, I am not "dreaming" not talking about general people or medians, only relating to STEM related occupations.

I do not work in STEM, but I have a good friend who does who moved to the South Bay from here, makes over $200K/year last time I heard which has been a few years, bought a nice house in Mountain View near where he works without an issue. Could not even find a job in South Florida once his company had a big round of layoffs, his current employer sent reps here to interview people on site and contacted him.

Thing is you do not need to live in SF City Limits, you can easily live elsewhere and still enjoy what the city has to offer and have some reduced living expenses.

I'm moving to Sonoma County in February, I'll only be hour away from SF on a good day, not a big deal at all. I already go there frequently and have some business relations so I'm looking forward to it. I do not desire to live in SF itself, just too crowded for my tastes, when I was younger I lived in Manhatten for a few years and got my fill of it even after living here where its' a mix of suburbia overflow.

I believe the poster you're responding to has a good job in Florida. I had a good job in Florida. I know a lot of people who have good jobs in Florida. That doesn't take away from the fact that the state is severely lacking when it comes to decent jobs. This is the Florida forum, why do you constantly bring up other places? You said the other day that you don't get butt hurt. Well?

Trust me, that % does not apply here, at least in South Florida overall. Plenty of people living like that but most have HNW and excellent cash flow, so much that they do not need to even work at all.

That data is not very clearly defined anyways.

Does not apply to me, I'm only playing Robin Hood here or expressing the experiences of others I know and the good data which is generally not available to the public I have available from my profession...maybe you need to read my previous postings on my line of work and where I'm heading, not going to repeat it again sorry...take off the rose tinted sunglasses.

Do you know many people with good jobs that actually hate this place pathologically like you and some others here? Dude, if you have a good job it implies your life is stable. FL offers a gazillions of options for people with good and stable employment. If you dislike FL so much it's probably because of circumstances in your life. Ultimately, I think you're the butt hurt, that's why you left FL.

Commuting from Sonoma County is an utter nightmare because of GGB. Many people opt to take the ferry, but that's also a pain in the butt. Also, comparing experienced tech workers to the median income in South Florida is not apples to apples. South Florida is full of attorneys and doctors, would it be fair to compare the median income of say Las Vegas to the average doctor in South Florida, nope. Real estate and rent is expensive throughout the Bay Area, not just San Francisco. However, Sonoma County is such a pain to commute to the city, you can get cheaper rents there, but it's also like you're living in the middle of nowhere.

I never wanted to move to Florida to begin with, especially the Tampa Bay area. I know plenty of folks in Florida and others who moved away that don't like the place. It doesn't have many options I want. That is why I left the first chance I got.

Well, nothing wrong with people who move because they don't like an area. I have a problem with those that complain, but don't do anything about it though. However, considering you spend so much time on the Florida forum, makes me think there is more to the story, some bitterness. It's similar to a bad relationship. If you departed on normal terms, you just move on and don't look back, especially not with hatred. However, if you are always checking their Facebook and complaining about him/her to your friends, it means there is more to the story lol.
