We have potatoes way too much. Anytime my husband cooks any meal, there's a potato. I love potatoes but he goes overboard. It can get boring. If I cook rice two nights in a row he complains. Or pasta. He'll never complain if there are potatoes every day of the week.
as a diabetic I'm not supposed to eat potatoes very often. They are high in carbs. So I TRY to limit myself to once a week and never fried. But it's hard cause they taste so good and are so cheap, I also have to limit rice but man do we love it here in this house. That's one reason why we eat broccoli at least 2-3 times a week.
You can get away with potatoes more often if you add beans -- like filling your baked potato with black-bean chili. The fiber in the beans slows the entry of the crabs into your system so you can eat the potato without it hitting your system like a freight train. I have some diabetic friends who swear by this technique.
Maybe once a week. Probably no more than three times a month. I used to eat them quite a bit more but I have cut back a lot on them. I am trying to cut back on things white. Potatoes, flour, sugar.
