Tonight was salmon steak, with steamed carrots and mashed potatoes, too full for dessert, a bottle of Quinta de Santiago Portuguese vinho branco, and Dutch coffee.
Last night it was out to a French restaurant for a Bastille Day celebration dinner.
I had Choucroute à l'Alsacienne as a main course; smoked pork belly, ham hock, ham and garlic sausage, montbélier sausage, served on pickled cabbage, it was exquisite, but hard work, due to my over indulgence on Lanson champagne, inspiring me to push the envelope, and go for 12 escargots instead of my usual 6, as a starter.
I did my best, but had to forgo a little of the pork belly and ham hock.
My wife was urging me to ask for a doggy bag, but my French blood wouldn't let me give up, least of all on France's national day.

A Chicken Satay Salad with Wild Vines Blackberry Merlot for dinner tonight. The fireflies put on a magical show for me while I ate and drank. I love this time of year.
