Haluski is a dish made by sauteing and caramelizing onions and chopped cabbage in a lot of butter and adding egg noodles ..... seasoned well with salt and pepper....and at the end adding some crispy bacon pieces......I just learned about it but had the ingredients on hand....it is very good......diner food.
Not too sure what we'll have for dinner tonight....we have some options: bean and chile burritos, mushroom ravioli and garlic alfredo sauce, or hamburgs on the grill. I'll leave it up to the fiance.
Glad you liked the haluski, Elston! We use chunks of ham instead of bacon. We saute the ham chunks with the onions in one pan then when the cabbage has shrunk down we mix them and then the noodles go in. I told my DH about the bacon and he wants to try that next time!
Pork roast simmered all night in the crockpot. I am not a fan of that as I cannot sleep well with it permeating through the house. I had some weird dreams! DH, otoh, loves it!!! Lulls him to sleep!
It is now shredded and in the fridge awaiting dinnertime. I admit, I did a taste test and OMG, it was sooo good!
I am so going to try to make stromboli! I love it and so does DH! I think if you like pizza you will like stromboli! I don't think I want to deal with making my own dough though, does anyone have any suggestions on purchasing the dough? Thanks for the link, skbs!!
Location: Finally made it to Florida and lovin' every minute!

OMG! I've been making that for years and calling it garlic noodles (I put in a bunch of garlic, too)! One of my favorite comfort foods.

No, Cyn, I couldn't get in at all until last night.
And for any other halushki newbies - it's really good without any meat too <ducking out before I get beaned with a hamhock>
I wouldn't waste a good hamhock when it is needed in the collards...
