It's hard for me to compare Dallas/Ft. Worth to other cities/metros. I don't see any similarities between Dallas and Atlanta, but Atlanta came to mind the first time I visited Austin. Maybe Oklahoma City is the most similar to Dallas. For Little Rock, possibly Memphis, Tulsa, and Springfield.
OKC is too western to be like LR (although the cultures share some affinity)....OK City is more of a SouthXSouthwest mix (kinda Rednecky and Southern rolled into one).
My vote would go for Little Rock being most like Tulsa. Similar size and the "feel" is similar. Neither is lower midwest at all IMO, although I know there are probably a few Deep South Purists who might disagree. I could see how some might say Memphis is similar to LR, but Memphis feels a lot bigger to me and not as "homey."

Deep South purists like to pick on North Carolina, Virginia, and probably even Tennessee! It's more of the "East Coast Southern Purists" who would also pick on Arkansas, Oklahoma, Missouri, etc. Like I said above, I've come across a few people in North Carolina who don't consider Arkansas, Oklahoma, or Texas as southern.
Just because it's much smaller doesn't mean that it has absolutely nothing in common with the other two cities. Some of y'all are really making this question far more complicated than it is.

Seriously, folks. Little Rock and Dallas are in bordering states. Four hours from each other. Atlanta is three states away and three hours longer of a drive.
I think it's only necessary to apply simple common sense to get your answer here.
Little Rock is pretty well the western extent of the mid-south. I ain't sure how I would answer the question in the OP since neither answer seems that close to me.
Dallas...but i would compare it more to Shreveport demographically and size wise...i feel like just about every thing between Texas and Mississippi has more in common with each other than they do with anything in GA, AL, FL and the Carolinas &VA. TN fits in anywhere really.
I know what you're saying for sure, but the assumption that the eastern half of the South is full of transplants is way too exaggerated. I know that you disagree, but it's kind of ridiculous. In North Carolina, many people don't view Arkansas as a southern state, and I'm sure some will even go as far to call it the lower Midwest or something along those lines. Not saying I agree, but it's true. Many people in this "half of the South" feel like they're the "true South" and that states like Arkansas, Oklahoma, or Texas shouldn't be included.
Don't get too proud. I've lived in the deep south for 10 years now and I can tell you that people down here don't think North Carolina or any upper south state is the "true south".

If anything is the "True South" then it has to be Virginia, the Carolinas, and Georgia. These southern states were part of the original 13 colonies. Anyway, it all depends on where you're from and how you were raised. Assumptions are different based on your home state. I'm from North Carolina and I believe Maryland is the first state in the North. However, some people might view Maryland as southern.
I don't think the OP is saying that LR shares many similarities with DAL or ATL, but if you had to pick between the two which would it be more like.
Yes, you're right! You understand the spirit of the post! I'm quite surprised how many people don't understand the question.
We're not looking for similar size cities, like Tulsa or Memphis or whatever else. It's a comparison ONLY between Atlanta and Dallas, and which does it resemble more culturally. Is it more like Texas or is it more like the Deep South...which might be a more fair question, if the big city words are confusing people.
But, I am intentionally using cities, as I want to use Little Rock, not 'Arkansas'.
