Baltimore - Charm City
York, PA - the White Rose City
Lancaster, PA - the Red Rose City
Bethlehem, PA - the Christmas City

I personally call the Harrisburg area (though not the city per say) "the Keystone Area of the Keystone State", due to the city's/region's importance as a transportation center (and the state capital).

During the 1700's Frech Irish settlers named their new discovered settlemant after King George wife Queen Charlotte and that is how it got it's name Charlotte incorporated 1768 in honor of the queen.

Cincinnati
During 1820 citizens proud of their city which at the time was refer to Queen of the west
Cincinati was not chartered as a town til 1802 and as a city 1819

Charlotte is the first Queen City and North Carolina was the First in Flight.

That's pretty cool! I always assumed Cincinnati was called Queen City long before Charlotte. So I was wrong! And Denver is also a Queen City. I wonder how many other cities in the country are Queens...

Portland, ME: Northern Mass, North Boston, Not Maine (and any other moniker to denote a 'real Mainers' notion that somehow Southern Maine is a part of Northern Massachusetts or a Northern suburb of Boston), the Tourists Trap.

Charleston, SC:

The Holy City: Numerous church steeples dot the city's skyline, but does not dominate.

Chucktown: The city is named for King Charles II. For the most part, people named Charles go by Chuck..That's my favorite nickname for my hometown.
