In Florida I would say for those who live here and have actually visited varying cities that St Petersburg is getting a lot of love. Orlando's reputation is on the coattails of amusement parks and other varying artificially implanted attractions on the outskirts of town, and not based on real time visits to the city itself and through the eyes of tourists. In fact many Floridians (particularly in SE Florida) dislike Orlando's over-commercialization.
I would say the best liked city in Texas is San Antonio among Texans and Austin outside of it. There are plenty of Texans who like Austin or Dallas or Fort Worth or Houston or RL Paso, etc.,more than San Antonio but that city is probably the least controversial. Among people I met outside of Texas, Austin seems to be the favorite by a long shot, even though many of those people who prefer Austin has never been to Texas, much less outside of Austin.
Very true. I travel a bit and Austin is well thought of. Every other city, not so much. Citizens of other cities in Texas are jealous or resentful of Texas.
Punching bags tend to be Houston and Dallas, both in and out of the state imo.

For Pennsylvania as a whole-most seem to prefer Pittsburgh over Philadelphia, or at least The Steelers over The Eagles.
Philly gets cut a little short on influence in state since it's metro spans into New Jersey, Delaware and a little Maryland versus going far west into PA.

Fair points, I'd say Orlando is probably most liked and disliked. St Petersburg might have highest % with a positive impression but idk how well it's known outside of FL. What's sad about that is very few that visit Orlando know there's a whole other side with a pleasant downtown core and Thornton Park/College Park/Mills 50 around that and the collection of charming towns on outskirts like Winter Park, Winter Garden, Sanford, Mount Dora, DeLand, etc and even New Urbanist places like Celebration and Lake Nona. Also, the hill country and natural springs on the west side, and CNS is probably the biggest quiet stretch of beach within an hour of any of FL's Big Four (the biobay over there is simply stunning). Orlando isn't suffering from lack of demand, but it has an identity problem to be sure.
I don't think Ohio has a clear winner. If we are choosing from strictly urban areas and not college towns or rural areas then it comes down to the three C's. All three are pretty distinct and have a lot to offer in my opinion.
Virginia: Charlottesville.
