Obvious picks are Alaska and Hawaii. However when it comes to the mainland USA, California is culturally the most different from the rest of the country, hands down. California is a majority minority state, Spanish is a commonly spoken language unlike other states. CA is known for radical leftist politics, Hollywood celeb "lifestyles", the pop music industry, expensive housing, high poverty and crime rates. California is VERY different culturally and politically from the rest of America. There's also a word used to describe this, "Californicated". The definition is someone transparent, who has a plastic West coast world view that values flat abs, trendy fashion and image over substance and character

As has been stated, Alaska and Hawaii are obvious, and Louisiana, New Mexico, and Utah are also good contenders within the contiguous 48.
I wonder what the most culturally unique Midwestern and Northeastern states are? Tentatively I'm gonna say Minnesota and Maine.
Hard to say, honestly. No state in the midwest seems that different from the rest. Northern WI (and MI's UP) seems similar to MN, especially northern MN, which also resembles parts of nearby Canada, too. Northwestern MN seems similar to ND (eastern) and southern MN is like IA.

California isn’t the only State with Spanish as a commonly spoken language. Florida, Texas, Arizona, New Mexico, Nevada, New York, New Jersey, and maybe a few others too.

This seems right. Midwest kinda blurs from one area to another gradually, but no area is THAT different from any other in the Midwest, except maybe Chicago and a few other large cities (even to me, being from eastern ND, there are some similarities despite the large difference in size).
Western Dakotas are a different animal and have a substantially different feel (both ND and SD). Much less Midwestern.
