Well, I'm really no authority because we just drove in for one day, but the overall feel that I got was that it felt like three different smaller cities. There was the decimated ghetto which was unfortunately the first part that we saw, then there was the infamous French Quarter, and then there was the absolutely charming, old-fashioned feeling yet modern downtown. Just driving in for the day it was hard to get a feel for the flow of the place, in terms of what is located near what.

I think it actually felt like a smaller city to me, but had we spent more time there I might feel differently.

Another follow up to my post. I had another friend from Miami to visit her friends/me as well, and she was blown away by Montreal. She, like most people, thought it would be a small city, nothing special etc... She was surprised at how much bigger it was than Miami (and the downtown area), how diverse it was (people wise/neighbourhood wise) and how there's more outdoor activities/activities to do in general. She disliked how it was -25C nearly every day though haha, poor girl.

San Antonio, Texas was a pleasant surprise. All the Spanish history was unique. Only city in Texas that is at all interesting.
