Thank you Charolastra00!

Gandhi said, "“I like your Christ, I do not like your Christians. Your Christians are so unlike your Christ.” I won't go so far as to say he's right - there are some wonderful people out there. But it seems like the people most vocal about their religion (all religions not just Christian) tend to be those who are least tolerant. Love your neighbors as yourself. Let those amongst you without sin cast the first stone. Those are both beautiful ideas that anyone could believe in. If only we could stop believing ourselves worthy to judge anyone else.

I think that children are naturally unprejudiced until they learn to be so. I'm less concerned with the idea of teaching kids to respect all kinds of families than I am with teaching adults. But I guess the hope is that by teaching the kids, perhaps by the time they are adults the world will be a more accepting place.

If only

"Tolerance" and "Acceptance" are hackneyed and trite watch-words doled out in a vain attempt to silence all valid criticism. When the social mutants on the “left” talk of "Tolerance" what they are really saying is "Accept totally MY point of view, gladly and without question". What they are truly saying is “your position is not welcome here, be silent”. They never mean for the pliable audience of impressionable children to be completely tolerant of ALL possible views, only the view that they are promoting, namely pro-homosexuality. Clearly there can be no compromising some views or "lifestyles" or focusing on the "grey-area" where there simply isn't one. It is impossible to see homosexuality as both valid and at the same time see it as a mortal sin, it is either O.K., or it is not, there is no justifying the two positions.
So….
Any and all “tolerance” education conducted in public schools or in any other location needs to be very carefully examined by every parent with children there. The homosexual political movement is crafting the “educational environment” to their own advantage and in their own interest, not, as they love, but erroneously claim, “in the name of tolerance”.
Again….”Tolerance” and “Acceptance” are wags tossed out to silence any resistance….

There are many different kinds of families, and that's what these young kids are being taught. There are blended families, black and white families, families with adopted children, families with two moms or two dads. Society is comprised of many types of families, and there's absolutely nothing wrong with teaching children that every family is not the same.
Some of you are acting like these kids are being shown hard core porn in kindergarden. The hysteria is palpable. Shame on you.

heres my two cents on the gay issue im not religios so i wont use religion as a basis
if bein gay is really in ur genes then it is a genetic mutation and since i believe in darwins theory of evolution it is a human phase that will soon be out of the human race becouse if u are gay u dont like the opposite sex therfore u dont pass ur gense on so the mutation stops dont get me wrong i dont hate gays im just looking at the facts and if is a choice u make then we shoulnt be teachin it to kids becouse then they will chose to be gay and there goes the human race just pointing out the fact that if if one in every 3 high school kids is gay then the human population will shrink but since i think thats statistic is c#@p and not overall real cuz how do u know whos gay and whos not

this is my opinion if u disagree well then thats u but this is mine so dont try to convince me otherwise

So according to you we dont pass our genes to the next generation. In the past gay ppl were forced to be with the opposite sex so they wouldnt be discriminated. I can puntuate as well as the next guy but I dont becouse its easier that way.oh and havent u heard of of dominant and recassive genes?
I don't know whether to laugh or cry.
No, I haven't heard of "recassive genes". You do know where gay children come from, right? Straight parents. And speaking of "choosing to be gay"....tell me, when did you choose to become straight?

Interesting that a thread which died five years ago was revived just so someone could post such inane drivel.

I went back and read my posts in this thread, and I find my thinking has changed over half a decade (imagine that!). Its fine. Kids are amazing in what they can understand, probably better than adults in some cases. I also find myself with less and less tolerance for idiocy.

I would vote "yes" for a "gay marriage amendment" or anything like that if there was one in my state, only in the hope that once gays were given the "equal rights" they are making such a huge fuss about (they, along with those who need the public opinion distracted from real issues) ...then perhaps the issue would die out on the political arena and people would maybe strat looking in the right direction.

That being said, I would be against schools exposing my children to discussions around the social acceptability or non-social acceptability of any kind of sexual behavior.

Would it not benefit society greatly for these children and their classmates to believe and understand that any of these family situations, though perhaps different from another, is just as "good" as any other?
Now that makes sense! I think kindergarten is way to young to be discussing kids own sexuality.

I feel the same pretty much as dontbugme in that I am a non-denominational believer (Christian) that dosn't hate homosexuals but does not approve of the lifestyle. Your activist homosexuals will say I HATE gays/homosexuals because I don't accept their lifestyle lock, stock and barrel. To me this is just their way of labeling/intimidating/insulting someone that doesn't agree with them. Why is that? Is it because some of you homosexuals feel guilt because of my disapproval? I don't feel guilt or shame when someone ridicules, disagrees or labels me a Christian/believer. Bring it on. Why should you care what I believe anyway. Or is their some other agenda you activists are following out there. First it was "We don't want to be beaten up/abused because we are different". And you shouldn't. And you got that. Then it was "We just want to be accepted like anyone else". And you are getting that. Now it's "We don't want any opposition to our lifestyle, no dissenters, no disagreements whatsoever".And you are getting that with same sex marriage being passed in more and more states, hate crimes legislation, etc. You are going into the schools that are funded by both religious and non-religious and teaching your lifestyles to our young and impressionable at our expense, all the time trumpeting our constitution and the separation of church and state which nowhere appears in the constitution but was mentioned in a letter to a church by one of our founding fathers (who by the way, are considered dead, racist, white, slave-owning men by most of you) and truth be told, the founding fathers would probably be rolling in their graves if they could see how you have twisted and misapplied their words and writings to fit your agenda. No the whole school teaching of homosexuality to our young is just another indication of what the radical, activist homosexual movement really wants. It wants our future.

Do kindergartners hears stories about opposite-sex relationship?

Any story involving a mother and a father?

If so, I don't see any problem with a story involving two fathers or two mothers.

Interesting how things have evolved. When I was in kindergarten (or first/second grade), I don't recall any stories about sexuality or relationship dynamics. It was all about, well, kiddie things such as animal stories and Jack and the Beanstalk, etc.

Guess things are more sophisticated these days.
