So the city has agreed, in writing, to allow the construction of the green room. To now backtrack on that agreement threatens the project. Even you can understand that, if you really tried.

As I said so? And no I didn't backtrack. You mischaracterized my statement.

I was referring to the city backtracking. As in now telling Scarfone he can't build the green room AFTER signing a document giving him permission to do so.
While Scarfone has been kind of unreasonable in a lot of his dealings here, the city signing a document that gives him land that specifically states it’s for a 3 story building then saying they won’t approve it because there isn’t enough land is about as dirty as it gets. I personally think they’ll get it worked out though.

The city has mucked up all the big projects. Even the performing arts center was a messy process.

I'm not sure why there's so much confidence that this will get ironed out. This isn't some minor disagreement or a question of semantics. This is vital part of the agreement that was made to allow the project through that the city is now trying to back out on. If I'm Scarfone, I'm not giving a single inch given that the current agreement was already a concession. Objectively, this project was already on thin ice.... ANY additional significant delay will probably the final torpedo into the hull of the development.
Either the city realizes VERY quickly that they have very little leverage to play stupid games like this or they WILL lose this project.
Meanwhile, the Hyatt Place is going into its fourth year of construction.
It was announced 4 years ago. Technically construction didn't begin until some time after that. In any event, its a long, slow project.
