Could that be why the BiLo in TR just signed a new lease and the landlord installed new lighting and paved the parking lot and gave it a new paint job?
Hey I'm pulling for Bi Lo. SEG is the culprit. Well that and the fact that hardly anyone goes there anymore.
I have wondered if the Berea and TR stores would be converted to Harvey's which seems to be Southeastern Grocers version of Save-a-Lot. They even do the 5 for $20 frozen and meat items like Save-a-Lot does. That may be why they renewed the lease there. If Aldi builds in TR and Lidl coming to Poinsett Hwy that could be lethal for BI-LO in Berea and TR.
Parts of southern greenville county might work in their favor as well.
Divestiture in any meaningful way, I.E. large groups of stores, is not going to happen with the Bi Lo banner. I could see some areas of Greenville County ( lease terms ) convert. The others will go dark as leases expire, some locations MAY be attractive enough for Publix / Lowes / Harris Teeter to consider.
BI-LO stores across Greenville County have closed instead of being divested.

I have not heard of BI-LO #5653's lease being renewed. (A five-year lease extension could be possible.) Its hours of operation has been reduced. It closes at 2200 hours (10 pm) instead of 2300 hours (11 pm).
Gateway Village's improvements are separate from BI-LO #5653's operations.

BI-LO #5613, Westowne, 15 Farrs Bridge Road, Greenville, SC 29617-1944, and BI-LO #5653, Gateway Village, 148 Walnut Lane, Travelers Rest, South Carolina 29690-1600, are among BI-LO's better performing Greenville County stores. Neither store has direct supermarket competition.
BI-LO #5613's nearest competitor would be Ingle's #74, 6605 White Horse Road, Greenville, South Carolina 29611-2539. Ingle's will replace Ingle's #74 with a new store at White Horse Road and Berea Drive.
BI-LO #5653 could find itself surrounded by three Ingle's stores: Ingle's #206, 1500 Geer Highway, Travelers Rest, South Carolina 29690-9204; the new Ingle's #40, 6505 State Park Road, Travelers Rest, SC 29690-1696; and the new Ingle's planned at South Carolina Highway 11 at United States Route 25.
There could be an announcement for some of the BiLo stores in the upstate to close soon. Staffs have been cut or their hours have been reduced. SEG have sent people to access asset items such as coolers, counters, machine, stands, shelves etc already. SEG may eliminate the BiLo brand completely and convert into another store brand for remaining BiLo's.
Southeastern Grocers announcing another round of BI-LO and Winn-Dixie stores closing is likely. There are several BI-LO stores nearing the end of 20-year leases and five-year lease extensions that are not making sales and have competition.
