IMO, BI-LO is still overstored here. BI-LO still needs to close around 4 additional stores in Greenville county and trim their store count to around 10. That might help improve performance at their remaining stores and that correction would probably make the overall market healthier for everyone.

I have wondered if the Berea and TR stores would be converted to Harvey's which seems to be Southeastern Grocers version of Save-a-Lot. They even do the 5 for $20 frozen and meat items like Save-a-Lot does. That may be why they renewed the lease there. If Aldi builds in TR and Lidl coming to Poinsett Hwy that could be lethal for BI-LO in Berea and TR.
Stepped into Lidl for the first time today. Will say, they had some good buys. Got a few things but made burgers out of their ground chuck and they were quite good. In fact better than Publix's ground chuck and I am a Publix fan. Got a weeks worth of dinner and lunch, plus breakfast for 54 bucks. Can't beat that.
Changing over to Harvey's?
That's kind of odd they would waist money and convert them to Harvey's now after seeing a couple of Harvey's fail and close in the upstate. I went to the Harvey's in Greenwood recently before it closed and I wasn't impressed. It looked like a narrowed down BI-LO to me with a couple of $1 junk aisles in the middle.

I can see BI-LO reducing its store count across Greenville County by closing stores or divesting a quantity of stores to another supermarket competitor. Fewer stores does not indicate improved performances at remaining stores.
