I don't get bored as much as "homesick" for the mainland. With the right group of friends and attitude, you'll always have something to do here I feel.
no, get way more bored when stuck in Seattle for extended periods in the fall/winter/spring/early summer/late summer when it's constantly raining and grey

Yes, but in Seattle, you can always get in your car and drive somewhere for a little weekend trip. You can't really do that in Hawaii. That's why I wouldn't want to live in Hawaii, or any small island for that matter. I think I would start to feel claustrophobic after the newness and the novelty of living in Hawaii wore off.
Yep. Boredom is a state of mind ... not a state of the union. There's enough going on anywhere you look to keep a person fascinated and engaged - unless you allow yourself to be convinced that the lifestyles marketed on the tee-vee represent the totality of the infinite universe.

Nope, not bored. Sometimes I long for some things that are unavailable here on the Big Island (such as a dedicated big name sporting goods retailer), but never bored.
I'm flying back to the mainland today for a 5 day business trip, and I have tried every angle not to have to go. I'd rather just stay here.
