Called and bugged my college student this morning. Turns out she was at the university medical center waiting to get her shot. Now, I just have to nag the boys in the family to get their butts to the clinic.
Ack, I need to make my appointment, AND remind my sister.

My arm still hurts 2 days later, but I didn’t know you were supposed to move your arm a lot around afterward. Maybe I will try that.
I didn't either until this time? the woman who gave me the shot told me....and she also told me they used 4 strains this time in the flu vaccine...so? Who knows
Every time I log into my subscribed forums, I see this thread title "Flu shot: Optimal timing". I think what has become obvious is there really is no "optimal" time. You might have better immunity in March if you get the shot later, but you might catch flu in October if you wait. And so it goes. All these "mights".
Moderator cut: not allowed to tell people to get the shot. It always starts a fight. I can remember in years past, later was supposed to be better, then the flu would hit early. The other thing is, it's so easy just to put it off, and "later" never comes and you get the flu instead. I think the Halloween deadline is a good one.

We can keep this thread open and alive for the people who want to get a flu shot. Only thing is, we must abide by the rules and keep this about TIMING. It cannot be about getting one or not as that starts a huge fight. Posts have been deleted because of being pro or con. Sorry it has to be this way but the fighting gets out of hand.
Keep in mind that even if it mutates and you get the flu after having gotten a flu shot, you might not feel the effects as strongly as people who haven’t gotten the shot. I have heard that from people in the past and that is often the case. I have a coworker who said that last year her son got the shot because he has asthma and she and her daughter did not. She and her daughter both ended up getting pneumonia but her son recovered much more quickly. Last year’s probably won’t be very effective at all, but even if one is only 30% effective this year or you get a late season flu, you might not feel the effects as much as someone who didn’t get the flu shot at all this year.
This year seems to be an early year. The health insurance company and the doctor's office have been bugging me about flu shots this year.
