The new age limit surpasses 26 years of age now it goes for men & women 27 to 45. Interesting that I never knew that the HPV vaccine is for men. Then again this still a stepping stone approach.

I would highly recommend getting it. I got HPV and subsequently cancer, had to have a hysterectomy and additional treatment. I had two partners, ever, one of whom is my husband and the other was a multi-year relationship. It can happen to anyone.

My son will be getting this as soon as he’s old enough. This isn’t something to mess around with so hopefully sharing my story will help others.

About 90% of all people test positive for HPV.

Very very very few people get cancer.

Know the facts before making a decision.

I can't think of a vaccine that is actually gender specific, as most illnesses that have a viral cause are not gender specific.

In terms of cancers linked to HPV - both men and women can get them; they just may present differently in female vs male.

Also, by treating men and hopefully eliminating (or severely reducing) circulating HPV - you're helping their future partners.

Australia's been much more aggressive in supporting HPV vaccines, and their rate of HPV seems to be plummeting. Not so much here in the US. Hopefully this new indication approval helps more people get the vaccine if they are interested in it. Without approval you could still get the vaccine over the age of 26, but you would have had to pay out of pocket. With approval most good insurance should cover it.

No, about 90% of people do not test positive for HPV. It's estimated that at least 80% of women and 90% of men will have an HPV infection at some point in their lives. Most do resolve, but. . .

There are about 13,000 new cases of cervical cancer diagnosed annually. That is not "very, very few". There are about 4000 deaths from cervical cancer every year. These are not small figures, and they're only for one kind of HPV caused cancer.

HPV is becoming the most common cause of head and neck cancer. About 18,000 cases of HPV caused oral cancers are diagnosed every year in the US. Together, that adds up to over 30,000 cases of HPV caused cancer diagnosed EVERY YEAR for just those two types of cancer. HPV also causes vulvar, penile, and anal cancers.

I guess you are immune to HPV already - congrats. How exactly did you elicit your adaptive immune system to recognize the HPV virus. Vitamins perhaps? Wheat grass drinks? Something clever I'm sure.

BTW Pharma is trying to invent another blockbuster disease after they made so much money creating HIV. And they are concerned that someone will figure out the lock combination on the safe holding the cure to cancer deep inside Merck Labs. Fortunately, superior intelligence like yours can see through the ruse.
