that some of the absolute pickiest buyers are the ones with the smallest budget???
They MUST have:
granite counters
SS appliances
hardwood floors
master retreat to rival a 5 star hotel
awesome curb appeal
large backyard with privacy
great school district
and their budget is like, $120k, for a suburb of DC. Yeah, good luck with that!
This show is so goofy and scripted. I still watch because I enjoy seeing house decor/style/prices in other parts of the country. But I really like the Property Virgins show with the host named Egypt. It's a little more realistic and gets into the details of making the offer, etc. And sometimes the buyers totally back out and decide to put their house hunt on hold. Much more realistic, IMO.

These are 2 of my favorite shows. A lot of times theses are first time home buyers. They have no clue what things cost. They have to realize that you can't have all your wants unless you have the budget it for it. I hear buyers on there say they've looked at 80-100 homes. That's crazy!

Ummmm... they HAVE to say something, because it is all fake.
And yes - they DO have a clue what things cost. But they fake it for some cash and some airtime.
Some of the people already are in the house; many are in escrow with one of the three finalist houses.
I know it's scripted but still find myself watching for lolz.
The thing that gets irritating is the ad nauseum "I must have stainless steel appliances, granite counters, and hardwood floors". Seriously, are people sheep or something? Please don't tell me that everyone, or mostly everyone, must have all three of those things. I see nothing wrong with other types of appliances, hardwood floors were never a dealbreaker for me, and I do not like granite countertops.

Since you say you know it is scripted, then you already know that they are being paid to stick to the script.
since it's scripted, you'd think they would vary the script a LITTLE bit! Find someone who wants carpet, or a really NICE big walk-in shower rather than a "soaker tub". I bet someone has come up with a House Hunters BINGO game with all the catch phrases...Open floor plan, granite, SS appliances, hardwood floors, soaking tub, etc etc.
The show that's the worst as far as being scripted & OVERLY so is "Love it or List it". Ugh! Those people get on my last nerve.
Let's not forget double sinks in the master bath!!!!! Nevermind that they have 3 inches of counterspace, they have 2 sinks!!!! I guess the plan to use one of the sinks to store their essential toiletries
They'd need to use actual actors to make the dialogue bearable.
