Looking for some insight into these neighborhoods. My fiancee and I are looking at houses in both.

Which neighborhood is better in terms of quality of life (i.e. - proximity to shopping, entertainment, movies, etc); commute to Houston downtown/Medical Center and housing values (where we would get a better return on our investment)?

Any help would be appreciated.

I live in Oakhurst so obviously I vote for it over Fall Creek. I like the easy access to 59 and being able to be into Kingwood quickly but also a bit secluded over on our own side. As far as investment wise they are both MPC areas so expect to hold the house 5 years to break even and then the house will just rise with inflation about the same as any suburban Houston area. I watch the Oakhurst housing on Har.com so if you have an idea about what you want to buy i can tell you who has dropped their prices the most recently.

Thanks for the reply, Chris.
I did like the neighborhood and its location. But I did see a lot of for sale signs out there. Is that unusual? Does that concern you at all?

Sales have been slow but not dead for the last few months but winter is also the slowest time of year for home sales. There are a lot more houses for sale since we bought a year ago but its about the same if you take into account all the new builder inventory that has been put on the market. The other good news is that all the front sections are almost 100% built out now. If I had to sell my house right now then all the competition would concern me but I don't plan to sell anytime int he next few years and the market should be different then.

Default Oops, my bad...

Sorry everyone, I didn't realize that I cannot post info about my business and links, as I missed viewing the terms and conditions. I have been warned by the moderator... yikes. I am not ususally a forum poster but ran across this today when I was googling information on the Summerwood High school.

We onced lived in Kingwood....We have transfered 4 times...onced to New Orleanbs, back to Houston, then Brownsville and now Laredo...We plan on retiring in Kingwood (near the airport)...At first we were a little scared to move into that new area across 59 as we first thought this will never be Kingwood (no matter what they call it)...Now coming back after a few years we are starting to believe this "new" Kingwood could become the best part of "Kingwood" to set up shop... Oakhurst was sold off or lost their rights to call anything there Kingwood. They are now two totally separate places. No longer involved with developers. With Oakhurst you don't get the good schools

They did not sell anything, they simply stopped paying a portion of HOA fees to KSA which makes then no longer an official KSA neighborhood. I was upset because the first I heard about it was after it had already been done, they did not solicit input from residents.
