My wife and I lived in San Diego for four years. From Houston to there and back again. I'm currently in Florida but will rejoin my wife in Houston in a month.

There's a street here in Clearwater, Florida called Loma Linda that very much reminds me of a San Diego 'hood because the housing styles remind me of it. It's a middle street with homes that looks unlike most houses in Pinellas County, Florida. It made me miss San Diego just driving through. But I'm looking forward to Houston for sure!

My Wife and I lived in San Diego all of our lives, we just closed on our home in katy,tx. and soo far soo good. We've been all around houston looking at diff. masterplaned communities(cinco, kingwood, woodlands, telfair, sienn a plantation, bridgelands) but when it was all said and done with we choose a small community. I guess being from San Diego we are not big on the master community thing.

BTW: we paid 250k for a home that would have cost us about 700 to 800k in San Diego.

If you can bear the heat, I think you'll like it.

We had to move here mainly for business reasons (property management), we are steadily getting to know the city, trying new restaurants almost every weekend. Woodlands and Spring are a bit of a drive from the center, but there's plenty to do locally too.

Truth be told, it would probably not be our first choice if we could pick anything and anywhere, but for the next 2-5 years (with the real estate situation being what it is in most states) Houston will do just fine.

Wife (asian) is missing California already, but as I said in the title, everything is a state of mind...

I understand many came into San Antonio, but are now leaving to go back to Southern California.
I have not read that Californians were coming in droves to Houston, but thought I better ask those who still live there.
I Moved from San Diego, CA. I found a 4 bedroom with 10,000 sft yard for under $135,000.00 with a house payment of $1173.00 a month. Gee my rent in San Diego for a 2 bedroom was $1700.00 a month.

We are living at the Cornerstone Ranch apts who are under new management. Our kids go to Cinco Ranch High School and Williams Elementary which are good schools.

If you are looking for a home or having one built, these are great apts that are in the Cinco Ranch area. They are located at 2002 S. Mason Rd. and if you want your kids to attend Cinco Ranch High School here is the place to live in. There are new apts being built across the street but I see non of the residents here moving since they belong to other Katy ISD schools. Even though they are one across the street from the other they are in different school zones.

Merry Christmas to all!

Well I am currently living in Las Vegas unfortunatly and I can tell you right from the Horses mouth. Californians swarmed over LV especially when the prices were so low here. We all know what happened from there. There are about 65,000 homes here in full foreclosure and of that number about 60% are Californian investors.

So Vegas is dead dead dead so they are now investing in Texas and more specificaly the coastal areas.

Back in 2000 when prices in LV were still so low the Californians were able to sell their 1000 sqft bungalow for $3-4 million and they came here to buy a very large home for themselves and 5 more to rent.

The tide is turning.
