We tried Pie in the Sky in Madison Friday night. Arrived at 6:30, was told it would be a 30 min wait, and it was about that.

Big menu. Sometimes big varied menus worry me, as it's hard to focus on one thing and do it well.

Starter: cheese stuffed bread ring thing with pizza sauce to dip. It was inhaled in seconds. Very good.

Teen 1: Calzone. Very good, but a little heavy on the sauce and not enough spinach.

Teen 2: Italian sandwich. Very good.

We also ordered two pizzas.

Pizza 1: Happy Family. This was a great pizza. I could eat it every time I want pizza. Sort of a philly cheese steak with pepperoni.

Pizza 2: Margarita (sp). We always order one of these at fancy pizza places because it's simple, and when done right it's a glorious thing. But not at Pie in the Sky. That might have been the worst Margarita pizza we've ever been served. Come on chef. It's just 3 ingredients. The main problem was the lack of basil. Just a few tiny pieces. Also the thin crust was just not that thin or good. This tasted more like a Kroger store brand frozen pizza they thawed out for us.

So, 4 out of 5 good dishes. But the one failure was an epic fail.

Will we go back? Hard to say. Leaning towards no. Now we are planning a trip to Florence to eat at Riccatoni's and recalibrate our taste buds.

The pizza place, Pan e Vino (I think that's the name,) on the north side of the Museum is pretty good. Get the El Greco. Spinach, artichoke, feta. The parking is pretty bad. I parked in front of Dunnigan, Yates, and Allison, but it was during Grissom's graduation, so it was especially messed up.

That is a good place. Pricey, but good.

I've only eaten there once, but if you were buying, I'd go back

I went to Pie in the Sky like a month ago. Wasn't that impressed.

I think my favorite pizza place here is probably Sam & Gregs downtown.

Liked Pie in the Sky, service is a bit shaky still.
A little better than Mellow Mushroom, much larger menu.
If only Terry's was still around, the store bought ones just don't quite have it but do in a pinch.

Agree with you on Mellow Mushroom

But if you do have to settle for supermarket Terrys, you have to go to the Star Market in 5pts.

The Meridianville store has them also.

This thread is too important to be on anything but the front page.

Well my dad has apparently been to Pie in the Sky multiple times and actually got on to me for NOT going there yet.

Perhaps it is in my near future?

He was sold on Joe's, but is claiming this place to be even better.
