Thanks to that link, we now have this info:

"Panda Express (opened February 2013), Zaxby' s (opened December 2012), Firestone, Chili' s, IHOP, Family Security Credit Union and Express Carwash are also expected to occupy additional outparcels to the development."

Another Ihop, very interesting with them already opening one up off I-65 in Athens.

Firestone - less interesting, but okay.

Family Security Credit Union - never heard of them. So Wells Fargo will continue to be the only bank without a branch in Athens or Limestone county.

I wouldn't bank on any of that until the leases are signed and the buildings are occupied That's a commercial real estate listing, so take it for what its worth as far as the other out parcels are concerned.

Looks like the building I though would be an applebees/chili's is a credit union. Source (overhead photo): https://twitter.com/hsvdevelopment/s...19507324907520

I knew about the credit union, but there is hope in the "small shops".

Plus possible Rib Shack or maybe a Jack's (less excited).

Nice article on stuff going on in Athens:

IHOP opened the first week of May at I-65, Exit 351;

• Touchdown Wings, a small family-owned, Tennessee-based chain, will open in July in the former CottonJohn’s Restaurant building in front of Railroad Bazaar on 72 East;

• Dairy Queen, which is under construction on 72 East beside Chick-fil-A, is scheduled to open in August;

• Jack's Restaurant’s, second location, began construction in May across from Publix and beside Reliance Bank on 72 East;

• Dollar General began construction of a new retail store in May at the corner of Pike Road and 72 East;

• Athens Shoppes, a 32,000-square-foot shopping center, is well underway beside Walmart on 72 East. The space will be anchored by Dollar Tree, which will occupy 9,000 square feet. Other tenants are Great Clips, Herbs & More, a major sandwich chain, and other pending tenants;

• Redstone Federal Credit Union will build a new bank office beside the Sportsmed/Encore building on 72 East;

• A retail/office building will be built, starting in August, in front of Publix and beside Bank Independent on 72 East, offering 75,00 square feet of space.

Thanks for the update! I hope the major sandwich chain is something like a Jersey Mike's or Lenny's instead of the typical Subway or Quizno's. That would be great to have another lunch sandwich place in town.

Speaking of sandwich places....has anyone tried the deli in the new Mapco? I keep hearing how great the one is at Slaughter/72 and just thought it was a unusual place for a really great deli.....and I am always looking for a great new sandwich shop.

There was a write up in the HSV Times about it when it opened.

I love Lenny's, but the bread is so chewy its hard for me to eat

I keep hearing that about the Mapco deli, as well. I was there filling up this weekend and noticed a sign for a sandwich, chips and drink for $5. I may have to give it a try sometime!
