Animal and Native American names are perhaps "traditional," along with MLB affiliates, but what's a Dash? Storm Chasers, insects, and weather conditions doesn't strike me as traditional, either.

I think Brandios (two guys from San Diego) does 75%-80% of all the new MiLB logos/branding. I feel it's just come to a point where every new team or any team doing a re-branding wants to one-up each other and come up with an even more ridiculous name than the latest ridiculous name out there.

Could it be the hyphen in Winston-Salem?

Could be. There's a team named for frothy waves, so why not punctuation?

Winner, winner, chicken dinner!

The "Dash" is indeed referring to the hyphen in Winston-Salem. I guess it could also have a secondary reference of being fast and dashing around the bases.

Just to name a few.

Yeah, those are all perfectly traditional names
Toledo MudHens have been around for 70 years? Remember Klinger in MASH, he was a Mudhens fan.

Montgomery Biscuits - that's a cool name.

Chihuahuas - Fits El Paso.

Isotopes - fits the market and has a reference to the Simpsons.

Yard Goats - was very unpopular with the locals. I was in Hartford when it was named.

There was actually a lot of pushback when the name was first announced, but it quickly became one of the best selling logos in all of MiLB. I'm not saying the same will happen with the new Madison team, but you never know!
