I went to the Trader Joe's website and explained why Huntsville needs a Trader Joe's. Hopefully, a lot of you guys will go to the website and explain why Huntsville needs a Trader Joe's if you want one in Huntsville.

I used to work for Gap and I know the district manager for Gap in Alabama. The Huntsville Gap store used to be the second best performing store in Alabama after The Summit. Now, the Florence store out performs the Huntsville store. If a Gap store can't even do well, I don't think any high end retailers would even think about coming to Bridge Street or any other shopping center in Huntsville.

The Gap not doing well makes sense to me when I look at it on Bridge Street compared to all the other stores around it. There are stores full of trendy things for teenage girls and the Gap looks boring compared to them. Then there's Bebe and Anthropologie for girls like me who aren't teenagers anymore. And for work clothes, I go to J. Jill or Ann Taylor. For cheap clothes, it's Old Navy. The last time I went to the Gap it was filled with clothes that were very basic and a little expensive for a pair of khakis that I already had 3 pairs just like it. The Gap just doesn't have anything I can't find somewhere else easily.

Also, Florence's Gap doesn't has as much competition as Huntsville's.

This. Why pay $50 for a boring, basic sweater, when you can go to Ross and buy something MORE stylish for $10? I never understood the appeal of Gap. The colors are boring, the style is boring, and the prices are way too high (except occasionally on clearance).

Yes this probably has to do with Huntsville having much more retail options than it did back in the day. Before Parkway place was redone and Bridgestreet Madison Square was the only real retail mall. Both Target complexes are also relatively new as well.

Let's say that Constellation, Waterstone, Sweetwater, Harris Hill, and The Peaks at Southchase are all built. Will they most likely cause stores to leave exisiting structures, multiply in the market, or cause new stores to come?
