My advice, if time is not an issue, take back roads that may not be so direct. You will experience more small town experiences, and for me that adds to the pleasure of the trip. And by back roads I still mean paved highways with some sort of number insignia!

Proof that a ghost thread can still be useful! YCES took that trip more than a decade ago, but others are planning similar trips to Idaho. Happy trails!
