Yea it is a shame the history of the even is completely lost, most people dont know it began in celebration of a wedding, now people just go for beer and food.
I know I am half. All I have ever heard is that it isnt something to be proud of, like they were all Nazi's!! And no havent seen a heritage day either.
Well Germans have made great contributions to the USA since Colonial times regardless. Believe it or not the first anti-slavery protest in the Colonies was made by German immigrants in the late 1600s!
March - Irish Heritage
November - American Indian Heritage Month
June - Caribbean-American Heritage Month
May - Jewish-American
Certain states have heritage months too -Georgia "Confederate Month"
And where exactly have any of us seen these other than, African_American month and Hispanic heritage month. You NEVER see Irish or German heritage months advertised and put on bill boards and TV.
