Does it irritate you when people call you/others "anti immigrant" instead of "anti illegal immigrant"?
I personally cannot stand it when people leave of "illegal" when they are talking about my, and other people like me, in referencing their views. They say things like "immigrants are needed in this country" or "people who hate immigrants hate what America stands for." Sometimes I seriously just want to shake the people who do that because I am not anti immigrant, I am anti illegal alien. They need to use the correct terminology.
Thats like saying "are you anti-consumer" when you are referencing a robber/burglar. They are clearly different things.
Your post says it all. Of COURSE it's irritating, since it's a 'cheap trick' to throw off the truth of the discussion. Your examples were good....
It's really all part of modern "PC" and thought control. Such 'innovations' always seek to remove "degree" from all discussions, making it a "either-or" situation....i.e. "either you support immigrants, OR YOU HATE FOREIGNERS. (since illegals are 'immigrants', that means we have a whole lot of hate...right?)
We are CONSTANTLY reminded that "not ALL illegals are Hispanic", yet at the same time, being "anti-illegal" is equivalent to being 'anti-Hispanic". Pretty hard to follow this reasoning, I'm afraid. Maybe that's because it's not actually 'reasoning' at all.
Beyond all THAT, the very term "anti-illegal" is in itself pretty biased. It assumes that one should have to 'come out', 'make a stand', and declare himself to be 'against' illegals, and presumably, to be able to DEFEND his position.
Yet why should anyone be called 'anti-illegal', anyway?...shouldn't that just be taken for granted...that MOST law-abiding people are "anti" crime? We don't call people "anti-drunk drivers", or "anti-pickpockets", or "anti-shoplifters", do we? Have you ever heard of an "anti-child abuser", or an "anti-deadbeat dad?" Of course not. Law abiding people are ASSUMED to be against these things, and aren't required to 'state their case'. Why then, the expression "anti-illegal"?

Because in this case, there are people who support the illegal aliens whereas there are hardly any who support examples like anti-child abuser. If everyone was anti illegal, then you would be correct, but everyone is not.
Personally, I'm anti-lawbreaker, and that includes all those little laws that the illegal alien apologists like to throw up like speeding, jaywalking and the like.
its like saying anti outlaw.
yes anti illegal anything
anti crime
anti drugs
anti violence
anti rudeness
anti drunk
definitely standing with the
antis. i like my antis.
how bout you?
I kind of get a kick out of people who say things like "racist", because I KNOW they are following the party line of PC speech. It's so lame that it isn't funny.

Anti illegal immigrant; yes I am------and, very proud of that opinion.
