My point? Only that if BullBoxer31 had acted a split second earlier...and one of the "bad guys" had been the one to die, and BullBoxer31 was still walking around...then yes, by the time the media got to the story, and by the time it got up the the Attorney General of the US, then yes, as you suggest, "this case may very WELL have been seen 'exactly like THAT one'.."......and the 'bad guy' would have been a martyr, and BullBoxer31 would be headed for jail, or at least a long and ugly public 'trashing'...and his carreer probably would have been over, and his superiors probably would not have backed him up. And I'm sure this was in his mind that night, and I'm sure it affected the way he did his job.

But I wasn't there....nor. as far as I know, were you. So neither of us can 'judge'...right? And now he's dead.

First of all, the illegals WERE breaking the law so the way I see it is..

pointing out that he was the father of two only highlights the fact that he shouldnt have taken such a dangerous job.

Oh so let's see if one has children you should only take "certain" jobs? Maybe you should tell that to our servicemen and women. If your President and the past ones would have done their job we wouldn't have to worry about illegals slithering over the border and if the current Prez would do his job there'd be jobs galore like he "promised."

Right....and the phrase "Border Patrol" is also a 'red flag'. Had he taken a job farther into the interior, he might have been safer. Perhaps all married BP agents who have children should consider taking a position as a school crossing guard in Iowa or Kansas. Can't get much safer than THAT !!

This is a new low in the 'blame the victim' category. If the illegal border jumpers had stayed in their own country (hint: it's not the US), the BP agent would still be alive and able to go home to his two children at the end of the day.

This is America and there will always be young men and women who voluntarily place themselves in harm's way in order to protect the rest of society. Some of them have families. This concept of willingness to sacrifice your life for the greater good is no doubt puzzling to many from other cultures, but that is how we do things here.

The problem is not the career choice of the BP agent, the problem is the individuals who knowingly cross our border in violation of US immigration law.

Well no because then they may get run over by some nut.....and then there will be sympathetic folks saying "he shouldn't have taken such a dangerous job." After all, you know there are so many jobs out there...you really have to just "shake your head" at the supporters.....one day they'll be oh my, "who ya gonna call" when they're standing in that food line.

Excellent post! Isn't it amazing how some folks want to blame the guy who was doing his job in protecting our Borders? I think all of those who want to blame this guy should actually move all of the illegals right next door to where they live. You will then see the hypocrites screaming the loudest!!

maybe he took a dangerous job because regular jobs are dwindling and wages are depressed due to the massive amounts of illegal immigrants crossing the border ......

understand that he was performing a very real service to americans trying to protect our country. here are some statistics from mexifornia:

Since 1990, the number of poor Mexican-Americans has climbed 52 percent, a figure that skewed U.S. poverty rates. Billions of dollars spent on our own poor will not improve our poverty statistics when 1 million of the world’s poorest cross our border each year. The number of impoverished black children has dropped 17 percent in the last 16 years, but the number of Hispanic poor has gone up 43 percent. We don’t like to talk of illegitimacy, but here again the ripples of illegal immigration reach the U.S.-born generation. Half of births to Hispanic-Americans were illegitimate, 42 percent higher than the general rate of the American population. Illegitimacy is higher in general in Mexico than in the United States, but the force multiplier of illegal status, lack of English, and an absence of higher education means that the children of Mexican immigrants have illegitimacy rates even higher than those found in either Mexico or the United States.

Education levels reveal the same dismal pattern—nearly half of all Hispanics are not graduating from high school in four years. And the more Hispanic a school district becomes, the greater level of failure for Hispanic students. In the Los Angeles district, 73 percent Hispanic, 60 percent of the students are not graduating. But the real tragedy is that, of those Hispanics who do graduate, only about one in five will have completed a high school curriculum that qualifies for college enrollment. That partly helps to explain why at many campuses of the California State University system, almost half of the incoming class must first take remedial education. Less than 10 percent of those who identify themselves as Hispanic have graduated from college with a bachelor’s degree. I found that teaching Latin to first-generation Mexican-Americans and illegal aliens was valuable not so much as an introduction to the ancient world but as their first experience with remedial English grammar.

Meanwhile, almost one in three Mexican-American males between the ages of 18 and 24 recently reported being arrested, one in five has been jailed, and 15,000 illegal aliens are currently in the California penal system.

those statistics have worsened since that article was published by the way.
