Maybe they could just become their own state and leave the rest of the country at peace.
That would be wonderful. We need you less than you need us. Thanks for your comment.

My point is, its a big country out there. No ones forcing anyone to live in a situation that makes them unhappy.

Is any elected official in that state honest?
Pat Quinn. At least I hope so as he seems to be.

I always thought Forrest Claypool was. Now I am having doubts after he supported Larry Suffredin and Joseph Berrios. I still trust him but with reservations.

I believe Ton Peraica is pretty trustworthy also.

Is anybody here old enough to remember Tammany Hall? As far as I can see, none of the states that are heavily populated have lilly-white politicians.. The 'machine' is in Chicago along with precinct capatains ane others of questioable ilk. If the Chicago boys had to live in Springfield for say, a year, perhaps their eyes would open, but I dobut it.

On the other hand, Illiois does have the 6th most populated state in America along with some of the tallest buildings in NA, an awesome park system that includes the two oldest parks in the US, one of the largest nightime Christams parades and displays in the US, the heart of the Beef and Grain Belt, a 12,000 year old history, 1% grocery tax, wonderful museums, all typse of photography and still opportunities, and some of the most awesome cooks in the world. One of the things that Illinois has that other states do not have is a library in every county, a hospital in most counties, one of the original Internet backbone "Root Servers, a Great Lake, four major commercial waterways, and our schools ain't too bad, either. In the not far distant future, Illinos will have the next Everglades in 14,000 acres of reclaimed farm land located in a flood plain. Six thousand ae already open.

It all depends upon where you live whether you view your glass as half-empty or half-full.

that is for the most part 100% true
i live in chicago, and have been downstate and some people know more about the city of chicago then I DO?

its kind of a shame because there are some wonderfull parts to illinois
that are overlooked i think if you do not live in the chicago region then you have it lucky that you are not paying outrageous taxes one of the highest in the nation although i wouldnt giving up living in this city.

Default Not sure it Illinois is the most crooked but...

as a former resident, I am hoping they won't notice me voting in the next gubernatorial election. Really, I'm not sure if Illinois truly has more corruption in the various governments then any other state or they just get better stories from the corruption that does occur here and there. For the most part, Illinois is full of good, hard-working, honest, friendly, and generous people.

A little birdy? You mean every major news organization?: WBBM 780 - Chicago's #1 source for local news, traffic and weather - Possible Evidence To Indict Gov. Blagojevich (http://www.wbbm780.com/Possible-Evidence-To-Indict-Gov--Blagojevich/3026165 - broken link)
