Wisconsin sucks too, the nice rural parts are invaded by mosquitos or meth heads. South east Wisconsin is cancer... unless you enjoy gigantic outlet malls, chicago style traffic and suburban sprawl and massive cheese shops.

I went to high school in SE Wisco and I freaking hate everything about it, I couldn't wait to get the hell out of there... just like I couldn't wait to get the hell out of east central Illinois after college

Chicago has its own issues but moving to Wisconsin is definitely not the answer lmao

So your logic is the whole state of WI must be homogenous and bad because of your limited perspective?

Funny.......I never considered SE Wisconsin REAL Wisconsin. More like Illinois Lite Too much of Illinois's influences till you get at the least to Racine, but then Illinois pretty much took over most all SE Wisconsin from the 90's on invading to live there to get across the border to avoid the taxation and more of Illinois. When I think of Wisconsin I certainly feel it's at least 90 miles on north of the border to get over the influences. I did spend a bit of time living in suburban Milwaukee but still found it tons more pleasurable then anything in Illinois. After that got the heck out of the Midwest altogether and would never look back.

In the 90's people weren't avoiding Illinois taxes. Our income tax was 3%, property taxes were much lower, etc.

We get it, you hate Illinois, but facts get in the way of your narrative.

Michigan and Minnesota are much nicer than Wisconsin overall. Wisconsin has little appeal unless you get some serious pay, IMHO.

No Never Not Ever! I also might be salty knowing that most Wisconsin people hate us and call us FIBS. That said, I don't mind WI as much as I used to. It has improved. Milwaukee and suburbs are OKAAY. Madison is Awesome. I used to say that WI was no place for a lactose intolerant vegetarian, LOL. However, these days you can even find some vegetables along with the cheese curds. Kopps is a crown jewel even though my stomach can't handle it and New Glarus beer is the bomb so WI does have some redeeming qualities.
Even my husband who was born and raised there and who's family all still live there has no desire to return after over 30 years in Chicagoland. The only place that he would ever consider would be Madison and he is a die hard Packers fan. Its a fine place to visit but I wouldn't want to live there. I like the Brewer's stadium also, its a great place to see the Cubs play for cheaper!

The mother of my daughter left Freeport, Illinois for Milwaukee, WI & i swear i can't tell much of a difference in their quality of life other than more entertainment options but the neighborhood is identical just a lot more expensive for them now. Milwaukee just seems like how Rockford would be if it were to be situated on Lake Michigan instead of the Rock River.
