Moving to Marion County
Hi All--
My partner and I currently reside in Fishers, IN; however, we have to move to Marion County due to residency restrictions with our employment. What's making the move difficult is that we currently live in the best place imaginable: 1100sq ft; washer/dryer; 2bd-2ba; safe area; every place imaginable near by; $730mo.
We are looking for something comparable, either an apartment/condo/or house. We are two non-smoking, professionals (non-practicing, licensed attorneys) with large student loans.
Any input would be greatly appreciated!!!
Thanks!

Have you considered challenging them on the residency restriction?
I thought MCSD was the last of the dinosaurs with a residency restriction and that went by the wayside after the consolidation.

Thanks for the reply, but we are not challenging the residency requirement. My partner is an employee of Marion County and that is why we have to move. We're just not familiar with the area at all.
Thanks!

Here's the deal. I was a 13 year employee of Marion County. How is it that they can consolidate their sheriff and police departments into the metro police department....lift their residency restriction for all of metro and expect the remaining county employees to live in county?
Send me a pm...is your partner a C.O? A civilian MCSD employee? DA's office? Prosecutor's office?
Hypothetically, seems so unfair that anyone would dictate where someone lives. I'm sorry. I live in Zionsville and work for a Marion County agency. So unfair. Even if you worked for the district attorneys office....you are handling cases of arrestees who where arrested by officers who can live in the donut counties.

Hi Main Street.
I'm in a similar situation. I want to live in an adjacent county b/c I grew up there and want my son to attend the same system.
I looked on the MC website and it still says that you have to live in the county within 6 months. Any new developments on that issue?
It seems rather ridiculous to MAKE someone live in a certain area. As long as they are within commuting distance, what's the difference?
Any info. helps.
Thanks.
