That's irrelevant to the point I was making. Someone made an obviously false claim and I proved it incorrect.

I would bet most that sold out ended up throwing in the towel and bought back in higher then they sold out ..it is a story that repeats over and over

i'm glad I sold nothing. I was thinking of selling my bonds but glad I kept those as well and just stayed put and just kept up with my contributions.

i just gave my annual gift to my kids so i have buy orders in for them today. i had a few extra bucks for me so i placed a small buy order for myself.

Even if it had worked out for him, it was not the right thing to do. There is no way to know a priori what the result will be, so it's just gambling with one's life savings. For some number of people who do this, by luck, it will work out for them. But even so, it's still just a complete gamble with one's life savings.
