The qur'an is ignorant 6th century beliefs and cultural mandates, period.
Even if this is true, do you think that calling uneducated people backward would help them in any way?
It is my experience that calling an ignorant person ignorant doesn't help him in any way.
Or maybe that is not your intention at all?
( if not then disregard this post)
And he is using the same methods of Bible apologetics. Looking at the kind of science which suggests a god might exist and ignoring the kind which suggests it might not and opting for belief rather than the more rational agnosticism. Picking on bits of the Quran which match (with a bit of tinkering) the findings of science, as though the Quran knew it all along.
Any religion can pull that sort of stunt and it will no doubt confirm to the believer that their belief is right - if they don't look at the other side of the argument. It might also decieve the unwary, which is why we put the other side of the argument.
Mystic was not calling anyone ignorant...He is talking about the qur'an...Read more carefully...
So?
Like the Dutch politician (read: populist / demagogue) Geert Wilders who keeps saying that the Islam is a backwards culture (Wilders claims that the Islam isn't even a religion but a political ideology like (Nazi) fascism and compares the Qu'ran to Hitler's Mein Kampf).
Wilders also claims that he has nothing against Arab people just the fanatical Muslim.
What Wilders neglects to mention is that he views every Muslim as a fanatic.

So are you suggesting any ideology that calls itself a religion is above criticism?
