And in exactly how many threads do you intend to post this? (Next question: why would someone interested to learn more about Islam turn to Facebook?) Please confine your proselytizing to your neighborhood.

No, Christians did their bit of violence and evil to another group during the crusades and inquisition then they grew up......... Maybe if there had been tv and internet the world would have felt the same about Christianity.........

Just because he was a member of a Christian church doesn't say he was a true Christian,

And many Muslims don't consider the fundamentalists as being truly followers of Islam. They consider the fundamentalists as being hijackers of their religion.

[quote=UNT_Eagle;4174959]Why do most of the countries that are predominately Muslim outlaw religious freedom, especially Christianity?

Because they are dictatorships. In those countries freedom is unknown it most areas......

Most people are born into a religion. Few people are left to choose their own religion. Its not just Muslims who are born into a religion and brought up in that religion. People who practice a religion and believe in it tend to want to bring up their children in the religion too........

Preterist

Much of the treatment of women in Muslim countries comes out the culture. Most is not Islamic. Many people in the Islamic world are not educated.

In Arabia before Islam Women were considered property, female infants were often buried alive. It was a bloody society where the tribe was most important and it was a violent society.

It was also a patriarchal society.

Muhammad gave women rights that were unheard of in his time.
He outlawed infanticide of female babies.
He gave women the right to own property.
He gave them the right to inherit property.
He gave them social and marriage rights.

Muhammad said "paradise lies at the feet of women" and that men and women were equal before God.

Hard to accept.
Not sure what you mean but these are the 5 pillars of Islam.

1. belief in 1 God
2. establishment of 5 daily prayers
3. Give to charity
4. the fast during the month of Ramadan
5. making pilgrimage at least once in your life to Mecca

You are correct..... Christians got it out of their system:

during the crusades and the inquisition

pogroms

pushing Jews out of their homes

protestants killing catholics in England to reinforce its staying an anglican country.

I'm sure there are more..... but it would be nice if folks would acknowledge that Islam doesn't have the only hand in the pot of violence

And THAT is the main point!!! . . . The actions TODAY are the only relevant focus. Islam is a barbaric, violent, religion that will NOT stop until all the world is subject to Allah . . . no matter how long it might take. It is a deceitful and coercive religion that believes in force . . not persuasion. God has no interest in FORCING anyone to do anything . . so Islam has nothing to do with God.

Islam is 1400 years old...... When Christianity was 1400 years old give or take a few years it was violent.....

The Jews were kicked out of spain in about 1400's. They could convert or leave. Later those who stayed and converted met with the Spanish Inquistion to find all the people who converted but still secretly practiced Judaism. Spanish inquistion was 1478 after Jews were kicked out of Spain. Ferdinand and Isabella wanted to unite Spain under the Catholic Church so they got the popes permission to begin the Spanish inquisition to cleanse Spain of all who were not Catholic. The drove out Jews, protestants and non-believers. It lasted from 1478-1834. "An estimated 31,912 heretics were burned at the stake, 17,659 were burned in effigy and 291,450 made reconciliations in the Spanish Inquisition. In Portugal, about 40,000 cases were tried, although only 1,800 were burned, the rest made penance". Jewish virtual library

12th century saw the inquistion to root out heresy in Europe.

pogroms: Taken from the wikipedia
Massive violent attacks against Jews date back at least to the Crusades such as the Pogrom of 1096 in France and Germany (the first to be officially recorded), as well as the massacres of Jews at London and York in 1189–1190.
In 1348, because of the hysteria surrounding the Black Plague, Jews were massacred in Chillon, Basle, Stuttgart, Ulm, Speyer, Dresden, Strasbourg, and Mainz. By 1351, 60 major and 150 smaller Jewish communities had been destroyed.[11] A large number of the surviving Jews fled to Poland, which was very welcoming to Jews at the time.[12]
In 1543, Martin Luther wrote On the Jews and Their Lies, a treatise in which he advocated harsh persecution of the Jewish people, up to what are now called pogroms. He advocated that their synagogues and schools be set on fire, their prayer books destroyed, rabbis forbidden to preach, homes razed, and property and money confiscated.[13][14]
Jews and Poles were also massacred during the Khmelnytsky Uprising of Ukrainian Cossacks in 1648–1654,[15] as well as in the following century during the Koliyivshchyna.

This is just a bit of the violence the early church and christians carried out in the name of religion.

http://astro.temple.edu/~hfreiden/Antisemitism/timeline.htm - a time line of Christian violence towards Jews.

Holocaust - 6 1/2 million Jews perished. 1 million of those were children. 11 million total. The antisemitism of Christianity was the reason in my opinion it happened. If you hate a people you can do awful things to them

My point is that Christianity is 2009 years old and has had 600 years to grow up....

Islam is 1400 years old..... same ages as Christianity was when it was in its early violent years........
