YAY! I'm so excited to hear that when we retire to Vegas we won't have to give up our fruit trees!! All mentioned here, we have in our backyard here in Tulare Ca., and that was the only downside of the Vegas home, but now, NO downsides!!! YAY!!!!!

That would make you a "TreePimp"

So you get to ride around in a tricked out lowrider lawnmower.

we used to ride along the San Gabriel River to the beach in OC. For the riparian illiterates that is the where the 605 freeway crosses the 405.

For something like a quarter mile the bike trail was accompanied by a row of prickly pear cactus. The row was established by the one inch line that watered it. All for sale in the local markets.

Same stuff we use here to water the shrubs.

All trees of even the same kind of fruit require specific pollinators. For instance, some apple trees are self pollinating, some can only be pollinated by the same type of apple tree, some can be pollinated by any tree, and some can be pollinated only by trees of the same color apple ─ reds to reds, yellow to yellows, etc. That information should come on the tag from the nursery when you buy the tree. Or you can Google your tree and find out. Or there are a zillion books on the subject in a place I found on Buffalo and Cheyenne that actually loans you books for free.

I did learn something on Google the other day. I thought self pollinating meant one flower pollinated another on the same tree. But it means that the flowers obviously take the term go f**k your self seriously and each flower, having both sex thingies, pollinates itself.

Yup..and you can help it along. You get a small paint brush and stick it in and wiggle it about a little. You know the routine on a larger scale.

Results in fruit...or not..

I've done that on lots of fruit trees and veggies too, especially termaters. They only giggle a little at first.
