money is never spent right in the CCSD, it would just be more bonuses for the top of the food chain. And if they really wanted to help the school they would have passed a similar tax a long long time ago.

Its always top heavy and never spent correctly. Hopefully the marijuana bill will be passed in november so schools can get an extra bump (again, I always worry how the money will be handled). BUT, Colorado has the blueprint and their schools got a lot of money and they had money left over for the homeless.

Seriously, I dont do drugs at all, but someone is stuck in their old ways or think the world will burn if its legalized. It would make so much money, especially with tourists coming in. It can be taxed higher with out of state license etc.

More false information by this poster in this thread. Money is never spent right? Not one single time? You are certain the "top of the food chain" would gift themselves $750 million and none of it would go to building schools, buying supplies and updating ancient facilities?

The current CCSD funds increase from the state had a specific purpose and that money went towards it. Those included raises for most CCSD teachers, bonuses to attract ones to Title I schools where mostly permanent subs were used, supplies for poorer schools and new construction of schools in the southwest as well as replace two delapidated ones near Palace Station.

I find it repugnant that anyone would misrepresent the money spent on schools and our future needs to shill a stadium for a billionaire. I will continue to call out your false statements in this thread.

CCSD is irrelevant in this discussion. The amount of money to education has always been low in the SW states and NV is no exception.

But the stadium is not relevant. There are any number of sources which could be tapped if we wished to up the Education pot. We don't. And I think tapping tourist for school taxes is a dumb idea. That should simply be funded at the neccessary level from state general revenues.

^^ A sizable portion of the hotel tax goes to CCSD and state funding towards other education. It is very relevant to the discussion. Anything that might hurt tourism and has to do with a tax used for its funding is.

It is also a relevant point to the "Tourists won't care about higher taxes because Vegas, Baby!" crowd. If we can afford to raise a tax that already helps fund education, giving it to a billionaire with the history Adelson has isn't the answer. Let's use it towards something the community actually needs.

Another example: If we raised the hotel tax the amount the stadium would require under Adelson's demand, we could do away with fuel indexing with that same money. The TIFF would extend it another term. Would you be willing to pay $.10 more a gallon for a stadium? Indirectly you would be.

Don't be fooled into thinking tourists are paying for the stadium. It is a diversion.

And what we should do is do away with any direct payment to CCSD of hotel taxes. CCSD should simply be funded to the desired level from the County and State general revenues. Now those revenues may well come for gambling and hotel and sales taxes. That is so such taxes should not become education issues. That is a different subject. And that is how it is supposed to work. The State provides revenue to support all schools to an agreed upon level after local revenues are determined.

The role of the Stadium again is to complete and perfect the strip as an asset to sustain our primary economic engine. The citizen of Clark County make out from the revenues generated by the Strip.
And we need to see it is the best of its class anywhere. The Stadium should provide a big up to the Strip and result in increased revenue and also to protect the revenue there now.

Obviously the statement isn't false. If anything, it is an opinion.

It is funny that you would accuse me of anything. Most people that have been exposed to the point you have would stop posting. I guess your angle is to attack the person that has called out your false statements with irrefutable proof at least a dozen times. It is too bad we can't have this discussion without people having to call out your nonsense and get called names for that service.

There are plenty of other people that are stadium proponents that are participating in the discussion the right way. I hope for the quality of this forum that you will join them.

So posting tweets is irrefutable proof?
