I didn't move. I'm just on a long term work assignment for a healthcare company out here. I'm bouncing between Ontario and Oakland and rarely make it home for the weekend. I have no idea if I'm near Piedmont. I take cabs. The way Oaklanders drive makes Vegans look like model drivers! plus- it is twenty bucks a day to park at the office.

From what my friend said, Piedmont is 2 blocks away from the worst area of Oakland. Wherever that is. Piedmont is like an older version of Summerlin amidst the chaos according to some who live there.

I'm not sure if I was in the worst area of Oakland, but the first hotel I stayed at had razor wire around the perimeter. I changed hotels pretty quickly, and moved downtown on the waterfront. Not as bad. Nice seeing the bay every morning. Oakland still sucks for me, though.

Left Tijuana yesterday having lost a little weight. I knew the lower tooth was moving about, so that couldn't be saved. The upper tooth had a crown and at Washington Dental they gave me a 50-50 chance of saving it with a new crown, after doing a root canal, and after determining whether or not the tooth was too decayed even for a root canal. So I opted for extraction. 2 of them. $40 a piece, plus a $40 cleaning.

Also bought some meds. I have offered to save Medicare and Aetna some money but they refuse my offers. With Aetna, my 2 COPD meds, Combivent/Symbicort are $47 for co-pays, and then they charge Medicare some $250! I picked up Combivent for $39 and Symbicort for $42. I would love to have Aetna/Medicare reimburse me for it, saving them some money, but they won't! Why? It was purchased in a foreign country, same meds! Also picked up Ventolin, 3 for $12, and a $50 co-pay here for one!

I haven't driven to either L.A. or San Diego for years now, I normally fly, and decided to abuse myself with a car trip. I always rent a car when going out of town, so it was new Toyota Corolla, the same car I rented last year to go to Tucson. Super nice car!

At 66, the formation of cataracts is to be expected, but not yet bad enough for surgery, so until then any brightness can be very annoying, so I drove all the way down there, leaving at 2am, with dark sunglasses, and on the return, last 2 hours of night time driving. Worked beautifully, as long as there's those sparkly markers on the sides of the road, and I can follow a car with tail lights!

My Mexican roommate of 15 years also rode along as he was to catch a bus to Guadalajara to visit his family and check on his house for 3 weeks. Next trip, I'll be going with as I'd love to see his house in Guadalajara. But no bus, I'll just fly out of Tijuana International Airport on Volaris or Aeromexico, $139 one way!

Also stopped to see a friend in Lake Elsinore.

Just curious, has anybody seen or talked to Kimba01 lately? I'm pretty sure I saw her on the 215 today between Jones and the 95 in Centennial Hills, if it was her...she was driving a Hyundai with a license plate that said "Kimba1" on it....

She has not been in the forum for a very long time. I had been wondering about her lately.
