the camera can flash but its up to a cop to review the footage now to determinte if a law was broken.
You may have come to a complete stop, but did you inch up a bit to get a better look down the road and then make your turn? That will get you a violation. You must come to a complete stop, and then wait 3 seconds and then make your turn. If you can't see down the road due to a tree in the way or something, do not inch up to get a better view if you wish to make your turn.
^^ Now that makes no sense. Im going to "inch" up if I cant see whats coming on the road Im turning onto. I will come to a complete stop behind the line. Then inch up. If I get a fine for that then Im fighting it.
Nope. In Nassau, the camera footage is reviewed by employees of the County Traffic and Parking Violations Bureau -- not cops. They make the determination if the car has passed the red light.
This issue has been discussed here before. It is not necessary for a police officer to review or witness this violation because it is a civil violation, not a criminal violation. (The difference is that a police officer must personally witness a violation and personally serve the driver of the vehicle with a ticket in order for it to be considered criminal.) The red light camera violation does not appear on your driving record.
Does Nassau County or ATS review and issue tickets?
The Traffic and Parking Violations Agency reviews and approves each violation and is the sole authority issuing the Notice of Liability. Local authorities review the potential violation data forwarded by ATS including violation images and video, license plate image, and vehicle owner registration information.
who are the local authorities? I thought they were the police?
