In early Sept. where should we stay? Affluent couple at 40, no kids. Looking for the best combo of restaurants, nightlife and daytime activities. Thank you for your help.

Not that I could afford it to give you a first hand recommendation but the American Hotel in Sag Harbor is suppose to be stellar!!

whats wrong with that description? Lets face it - you dont see many rich or upper middle class folks posting on C-D lately. The threads asking about high quality neighborhoods on LI get ignored, while the posts asking about bottom rung neighborhoods or places like Rocky Point, Massapequa, MPark get many responses. That tells you something.

Not sure if you're from around here so I have to ask: Affluent, like NYC/Hamptons affluent, or southern/mid-western affluent?

East Hampton Art House fit your budget? Starts at $695/night for the guest room.

The Latch in Southampton is a luxury boutique inn. It might be a good starting point for day tripping into the rest of the Hamptons.
