I live in perhaps the most denigrated area code in So Cal, 909. There are certain truths to some of that denigration, such as the term "909 hair" for women. (an ugly dyed blond cap of hair above equally ugly dyed black hair)

I was telling my wife, back in the 70's my area was 213, 80's changed to 310, 90's changed to 562.
It is like the episode from the Simpson's.

310 is supposed to be the westside but it also includes parts of the southbay and lower income areas like inglewood and compton. 310 does not automatically equal wealth. But for some reason it's gotten too popular and now we have 424 also which is a really ugly area code
