Just that there isn't much else there besides a little bit of night life and food spots...and traffic getting back into the city can be hell during random times of the day.
You're saying the Westside has a small bit of elitism, right? If so, I agree. I know way more writers, producers, actors, musicians, etc.. that live in North Hollywood than I do in Culver City, hands down.

I’m not in the industry, but all of my industry friends live in North Hollywood, Studio City, North Hollywood, etc…

I have a son that is a professional dancer and his twin is studying to be an audio engineer. They live in NoHo because of the proximity to studios and auditions. The rents will be well within your budget and you will live amongst others in the business.

Yep, the Westside. I don't think most of South Central knows or cares about where the actors and all of that live, but the Westside is well aware of what's going on.

When it comes to those writers/producers/actors who actually make it? They move around everywhere....but the ones starting out are all on that North side of town. Culver has some of the established ones, but really more corporate types or those who have positions at the entertainment companies that aren't talent based.

Curious as to why more don't live in West Hollywood... I take acting classes and such and I picked West Hollywood; I don't like the valley that much. I find the "city" more exciting. I've been in Studio City and Sherman Oaks and it was not "city" enough for me. West Hollywood is much nicer I think. After living here for awhile I know that I picked the best place for me. It doesn't matter if I live in the valley or not since I have a car and it's not far away. West Hollywood is just more "happening" and more "posh".

I'm also "starting out" however I would not live in North Hollywood and see no appeal there at all... West Hollywood is close to Beverly Hills (1 mile away)... how can it get any better than that? However, I have the money to live here, I guess most people don't. The only reason I can see for living in N Hollywood is lack of budget to live somewhere nicer...

West Hollywood is super congested, and still a bit expensive. I know some folks live there, but it is definitely dominated by gays, so some heteros tend to stay away from the area solely from that. I do feel it's GREAAAAT for gays....they can walk to the bank, grocery store, and to plenty clubs and bars that cater to them. But yeah, location wise, I'd DEFINITELY choose West Holly over North, especially since I'm always working in Hollywood.

I like it congested to be honest. I'm not gay; I'm female. West Hollywood is just more upscale and "posh".... Plenty of heteros live in West Hollywood because it is an upscale location; yea there are many gays but many heteros too. I hate walking; I like to drive everywhere, however, I just like the "vibe" of West Hollywood more. It's more "happening" and "trendier" than the valley. There are lots of upscale hetero clubs here too... not just gay.

Yeah I'm familiar with the clubs around there, we used to do Haute and we have another place on Santa Monica. Mi-6, 7969/Peanuts, and others have been straight clubs as well.

I am sure that you being a female makes it different, but I can see what you mean. I'm not sure why guys would care about living around gays...they don't bother you at all, and they're extremely nice...but you know how things are.

Believe it or not, not everyone likes the upscale and "posh" vibe that WeHo has.

It's also much more expensive than NoHo. If you were a 23 year old kid from Ohio with $2k saved up, you wouldnt want to waste your money on the rent prices in WeHo...

Also, again, while I'm not "in the industry" I think there is just more going on with film and production in NoHo. It seems thats were the majority of studios, auditions, acting classes, etc... is. Why would you want to make the commute longer than it has to be?
