Yes, just like we are sitting around tapping our fingers on the table waiting for the BIG ONE too. Then we'll all go down in flames together, lol.

ooooops typo

Thank you.

Anyone know about the reputations of these 2 firms, Belmont Brokerage & Pabst Kinney, they seem to be the main management companies serving the area.

Any other Mgmt companies I should know of?

I would pick the first one. Seems like when I see signs on buildings managed by the latter, they are buildings I would not want to live in...that may just be me though.

I tend to agree, however, Pabst Kinney has several nice buildings in the Heights also, but the majority are more on the west side. Same with Berro Management. Look into R.K. Properties and Paragon Equities. P.E. manages predominantly in the Heights and Los Altos areas (90815).

I just returned Friday night from a road trip - driving from New Hampshire back to Long Beach. I still feel like I'm on EST & CST We took the southern parts of the states - after leaving NH and Vermont, we went through NY, small portion of PA, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Missouri, OK, NM, AZ through Flagstaff and onto CA. Nice trip and no problems except I cannot think of one State (freeways, Interstates, etc.) that did not have some type of construction going on. 3-way lanes went down to 2-ways, 2-ways went down to 1-way, and the speed limit obviously went down to anywhere from 45 to 55 MPH. That was only for a minimal distance - no more than 10 miles.

We stayed in hotels and they all had free complimentary breakfasts (very good ones) and all had free internet access in the rooms. They also had a free business office for use of the internet and fax machines. So, you can check your eMails, etc.

If you plan to sleep in your car, I also would suggest truck stops in lieu of rest areas, which I believe are not allowed, and if they are, I wouldn't recommend it. Just common sense.

Good luck on your move and welcome to Long Beach. Stay away from rentals that are on the cheap side. That tells you everything. Look for one bedrooms in the $900-1000 rent range and two bedrooms in the $1200-1500 range and you'll do fine.

Thx Paula,

Read what you you've written in other forums, very helpful,

Thank you.

Thx to Doug too, and Naples.

Looking for 1 bed with a garage under $1300.

Will check out the Mgmt companies you mentioned.

Read somewhere, might have been here, that Belmont Heights has a lot of single family homes.

The thought of absolute privacy sounds very nice, but is it safe?

just being solo on a piece of land...

Should I aim more for apt buildings?

Find,

Either way you're good to go. The Heights has a lot of little places behind a house or over garages. And usually parking is included. If you choose the Shores, make sure you have parking, as another poster recommended. Otherwise, you may be driving around for 45+ minutes looking for a parking space.

I like The Belmont on 2nd St. in the Shore. Very low key.

I've seen some good reviews on that gym.

What about Frogs?
