What if LA wasn't the entertainment capitol of the US? Would this city be more like Kansas by the Sea or similar to San Diego? Because one of the main reasons why people move to Los Angeles is because of the entertainment industry and the image created by Hollywood.

Well aside from the Hollywood industry, I think a big part of so many people moving LA is due to the awesome weather/varied landscapes/good location. I mean, I've seen lots of people move to LA and Hollywood didn't even factor in. They just wanted a big city with beaches/mountains/good weather, and you can't really get that anywhere else in America.

But I definitely don't think LA would be as much of a big deal if Hollywood weren't in the city. I think it could still thrive as a global city due to what it offers.

Nowhere near as many Jews, the absence of whom would have been a bad thing for the city.

Probably like Dallas with an ocean.

The A-list would be partying it up in Fort Lee, New Jersey, and dancing on the closed lanes of the GWB.

This city would probaly be alot more conservative without the Jewish influence. Los Angeles is the only really "liberal" city in Southern California. The other cities in So Cal are more moderate to conservative.

This question doesn't make sense. It ignores the fact that the reason the entertainment industry moved here in the first place was because of natural, inherent qualities to the area. One of the reasons the industry moved here was because of the ideal shooting weather, and variety of locals. Mostly sunny weather, and you can be at the beach, the desert, the city, or the snow within about 1-2 hours.

I think it would have been a better, more modest/conservative city with less of bad rep and traffic.
A more balance median income and housing market too, especially around West Hollywood, Beverly Hills, Studio City areas. Probably some of the street and even city names would have been something else too.
Absence of Hollywood and Jewish community wouldn't have made it better or worse.
