It's no different from people pushing the gentrification. They want it to happen, others don't. Why are they in the wrong for wanting to keep things the way they have been? Get over it. It's their business that will fail, not yours

You kinda have a point here; Congress would be reluctant to pass any tariffs due to them being a bunch of compromised globalist shills.

In terms of the impact of a tariff foreign companies operating here in the States, any tariff on steel would be offset by purchasing American steel with reduced shipping costs (you wouldn't have to have the steel cross the Pacific when it can be sourced regionally). Also, the gradual increase in consumer purchasing power resulting from the reinvigoration of the U.S. manufacturing base (assuming foreign companies with operations in middle America would be indeed selling their products to Americans) would make up the for any net increased operating costs with buying domestic steel.

It's pretty apparent though that the pro-gentrification crowd are supporters of the Status Quo, whether they realize it or not.

Newsflash, fellas: the status quo if maintained will lead to a bloody revolution one way or another. It ain't worth it. The needs and concerns of the dispossessed American citizenry are better off being addressed sooner rather than later.

Btw, here's how healthy gentrification works: you heavily disincentivize foreign purchase of domestic real estate, you get interest rates back up to normal levels, you get the jobs back, you enforce the borders and deport illegals. With land costs reduced due to decreased demand, developers can afford to build non-luxury housing without losing their shirts.

Once the current bubble (now worse than 2008) is popped and housing price/income ratios are returned to their historical 20th century levels, gentrification activity would be reduced to where it's needed the most, and the negative impact of said gentrification would be greatly diminished.

And no, I don't give a damn about your precious property values. Next time, don't invest in such obviously risky assets with a heavy social cost.

No need to hate the guy just because gorgeous women throw themselves at him.

But the Feds sure do... quantitative easing, propping up real estate to stem foreclosures, etc...

There would be no Trump Organization as we know it without foreign investment in US real estate. That is a key part of their business. Expecting Trump to do anything that would damage the company and the family - as opposed to merely acts of charity- is like expecting the RIAA to favor weakening copyright laws.

This is not about hating Trump, who has good and bad aspects like most people and most elected officials.

All this white privilege stuff is nonsense pushed by SJWs and leftist college profs and regurgitated by rags like HuffPost etc.

How much supremacy can whites have if they can't even open a little coffee shop in peace?

This identity politics nonsense needs to stop .
What is an "SJW"?
