I can't imagine standing on this beautiful beach at Reid and being strafed. I guess that explains why there's no one there.

That is sure a weird request. Could be they want to get onto your property for some other reason.. Seems they have very little to do these days.

Maybe it has something to do with this? How interesting...

152nd Field Artillery Association - Pre WWII Regiment

The designation of the unit at Houlton was changed from Headquarters Detachment and Combat Train to Headquarters Battery and Combat Train, First Battalion, August 17, 1925. On March 3, 1926, John H.
Davidson of Oldtown was authorized to recruit a service battery and band. This unit was presented for Federal inspection and accepted, April 14, 1926, and was stationed at Oldtown, Maine.

That is really interesting, Thank you.

It would appear that the Maine National Guard was an Artillery unit.

In 1932 they went to Bangor (Camp Pope) and Pea Cove, for their annual training.

The following year, "in 1933, the horses were taken away and the regiment was made truck-drawn".

It looks like that is the only mention of 'Pea Cove'.

Nice video on the WWII page. Marching through downtown Bangor looks like convoy up Union Street, the train station, and the armory. What a send off! Thanks reloop.

Reloop, very interesting article.
Forest, if was me, I would ask what it would entail. I think I would be curious as to what they may expect to find and how much disruption to the property it would be. If minimal and they would restore, I would think it would be interesting to see something like this. Heck, they may strike oil for you!..lol

It might be worth testing the soil for lead or other toxins then...at least anyplace you are or will grow food.

Be careful letting them in. If they rip up all your trees or such it might be a hassle you don't want to deal with...

Hey Forest, Maybe they could hire you with your back hoe to stump your own land. What a deal!

Sweet!

But you know, I could not take advantage of the US Army like that. I got a buddy who also has a backhoe, I would more likely have them call Roger, I am certain that he would fix them up for a good price.
