i think the maine lobster council, with the help of the media/tv....should set up an official website called-lobster-bay,,,( like e-bay)where maine folks and companies, buy (sponsor the purchase and list the names of folks and companies)) 10, 25, 50 100 lbs of lobster...set the price for each,
call november,,maine lobster month,,,,with a logo,, lets give thanx to the maine lobsterman this year,,,and eat a lobster for thanksgiving "save a turkey, eat a lobster"

if the mlpc,,set a goal to sell x millions of lobsters in one month, then show the progress as it goes,,
keep the price consistent, and set up multiple locations to pick up the lobsters

I'm sure you'll get to know a local lobsterman or have a neighbor that lobsters. They'll usually sell you a few at a decent rate (boat price) or less than what you'd pay at a local store. Somebody up there will hook you up with a connection, I'm sure.

If there were something like a C.S.A. account for sea food I would probably do that so I could be assured that stuff is feresh. I can't say I would eat lobster everyday but ususally the price of lobster is what scares me away.

There are such a thing as lobster co-ops. Not everyone sells to the coop.

I didn't think the coops would still be buying. Does anyone know how many fisherman aren't going to haul?

From what I've heard in the Harpswell area, at least one of the co-ops has shut down. No market = No hauling. I'm not sure about out in Penobscot Bay but I don't think anyone from IAH can afford to go out.
It's a sad, sad time.
