I was just back on the CT forum, where they have a "Foodie" thread. It's always fun to hear about good restaurants, especially when you're new to the area.

We moved to Worcester in August and we've found a couple of good restaurants (Baba and Haiku for sushi come to mind, as does West Side Steak & BBQ for, duh!, BBQ).

I was wondering if anyone can clue me in to some other great places to eat.

We've tried a few Thai (our favorite!) places, but neither of them rocked our world.

Any Thai recommendations?
Indian?
Mexican (Tortilla Sam's was OK, but wasn't fabulous).

We're big fans of ethnic foods and there are a number of different places on Park Ave. that are on our "to try" list, but I thought if someone here had some tried-and-true favorites, that would be helpful.

Oh geez, now I'm hungry...

ETA: We're not limited to Worcester. Surrounding towns/cities, in close proximity, are fine too.

Some of our favorites include:

Sole Proprietor - Highland Ave - Seafood
O'Connors Restaurant - West Boylston St - Irish
Plaza Azteca - Lincoln Plaza - Mexican
Bocado - Canal District - Spanish/Tapas
Armsbey Abbey - North Main St - Beer Pub/Great Beer & Food

Shrewsbury St has too many restaurants to mention all of them & the Canal District/Green st/Millbury st has alot of good places also.

Thanks so much!

We've been to Armsby Abbey -- cool place, good food! My husband's a beer guy, so it was totally up his alley.

Peppercorn's on Park Ave near Clark U has Wormtown Brewing Co beer on Tap & is actually made on the property. We went there last weekend to watch the Patriots game & the beer was very good.

Oh! Oh! That's the place that my husband is dying to go to. He's luring me there not for the beer (I don't drink) but for the seafood risotto. Have you had that? (Here I go drooling again!)

Not at Peppercorns, though the food is very good. I have had the Risotto Frutti de Mare at Cafe Espresso on Wall St in the Grafton Hill area that was excellent. It is a BYOB place & the waits can be very long on weekends.

Another place to add to our list, then. And, note to self, to get there early. Thanks!

I really like a lot of the restaurants listed above (especially Bocado, Yaba).
I would add Surya (Indian) on Shrewsbury Street.
I liked Mezcal (Mex) Shrewsbury Street.
We love Yama Zakura (Northborough - definitely need reservation) and they have some Thai too, but I typically get Sushi there so I can't judge the Thai.
I just tried Ritual (on Main Street, next to Palladium) and I really enjoyed it - fun new place.

I love these threads - it is great to get recommendations for new places to try.
